Causeway Careers
Causeway pairs you with a coach for the rest of college, plus a few months after you graduate. Together you figure out what kind of work you want and make a plan to get there: which classes help, what to do with your summers, who to talk to, and when the applications in your field open. Your parents signed you up, but the plan is built around what you want.
Your coach, twice a month during the school year and once a month in summer. Your coach has worked in industry and has been through hiring from both sides.
You'll also have at least two one-on-one conversations a semester with people who work in the field you're aiming for. Some started a year or two ago and remember their interviews in detail. Others run teams or companies. We set up the calls and send them a short brief on you beforehand, so you don't have to cold-email anyone.
That's where most people start. You'd begin in the Exploratory Textbook, which is set up for trying a few fields and talking to people in each before you commit. Expect some inner work too: figuring out what motivates you, what you value, and how you like to work. You don't have to pick a field until the fall of Third Year. If you change your mind after that, your coach changes the plan with you.
About two hours a week in most terms, counting sessions with your coach, mentor conversations, and the work in between. It goes up during recruiting season, when you're applying and preparing for interviews. Your coach plans around exams and everything else you have going on.
After each session, your parents get a short update, and you decide what goes in it. At minimum, it's the date and time of the session and the part of the Textbook you covered. You can share more if you want to. What you say in sessions stays between you and your coach. The one exception: if you seriously break our Code of Conduct, we'll tell your parents.
Sessions are transcribed so your coach doesn't have to take notes. Only your coach and the Causeway team read the transcripts.
