John started at ESM Prep as a tutor, when it was a four-person company. He ran its Bay Area operations, became COO, and helped build ESM into an 85-person company serving students on three continents. He then earned his MBA at UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business, raised a search fund, and acquired Advanced Classroom Technologies, which he ran as CEO.

At Causeway, John builds the business and answers for the results. He hires and trains the coaches, holds every student's experience to the same standard of excellence, and tracks each student's progress toward an offer they want. He also recruits the mentors who make the network function, and he's on the first call with most families. He's a sucker for taking on big problems.

John lives in Seattle with his wife, their young son, and Stevie the Bernedoodle. He hosts a 20-team pickleball tournament every year, which he has never won, though he did once win a football national championship. In Spain.
