When a parent books a call or sends the form on Book a call, we collect the parent’s name, email and phone number, a second parent’s email if one is given, the student’s name, college, year and area of interest, who referred you, and anything you choose to tell us before the call.
When a family enrolls, we collect what the enrollment agreement asks for, including the student’s date of birth. Payments are made on Stripe’s own checkout page. We never see or store card numbers; Stripe tells us whether a payment went through.
Parents and students sign in through Clerk, our sign-in provider. Once enrolled, the student’s work, plan, sessions, coach notes and messages are kept in our database.
We also hold the name and email of anyone who joins our newsletter, writes to us for help signing in, or offers to mentor (with a LinkedIn address and field, if given).
Our calls with families and students take place on Google Meet. The first call with a parent and the coaching sessions are transcribed by Google, and Google’s AI notetaker writes notes on them. If you would rather it were off for a call, say so at the start.
Within about an hour of a call ending, our platform copies the transcript, Google’s notes and the list of who attended into our own database. We do not copy video recordings. Google also keeps its own copy of the transcript and notes on the program’s Google account, under Google’s terms.
Conversations between a student and a mentor are never recorded or transcribed.
After a call, an AI model (Claude, from Anthropic) drafts recaps and summaries from the transcript and the coach’s notes. A coach reads, edits and approves each one before a family sees it. Nothing drafted is sent to a family on its own.
When a coach builds a student’s plan, the student’s answers at the kickoff (including their name and college) may be sent to an AI model from OpenAI to suggest which optional chapters fit. The coach reviews the plan before the student sees it.
We call both providers through their business services, whose terms say they do not train their models on what we send.
A coach sees the record of their own students, including call transcripts. The founders who run the program can see every record.
Parents see the enrollment and payments. Beyond that, the student decides what a parent sees on their Privacy & sharing page. The session schedule, milestones and session recaps are shared with parents unless the student turns them off; the student’s work, applications and mentor feedback stay between the student and the coach unless the student shares them.
A parent never sees a call transcript. A student may ask to read the transcript of their own calls.
We use these companies to run the program: Vercel to host the site and platform, Supabase for our database, Resend to send email, Stripe for payments, Clerk for sign-in, Google for calendar invitations, video calls and transcripts, Anthropic and OpenAI for the AI drafting described above, and PostHog to count visits to the public site and to tell us when the platform has an error (the error itself, with email addresses removed, never who was signed in). Each handles your information under its own terms. We do not sell personal information.
We keep a student’s record while they are in the program. Call transcripts are kept for the length of the program and one year after it; recaps and summaries stay with the student’s record. Payment records and the accepted agreement are kept as long as the law requires.
A parent can download the family’s record from Privacy & sharing in the portal. You may ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to help@causewaycareers.com. A deletion is done by one of the founders; we send you a copy of your record first, and tell you in writing when it is done and what we had to keep and why.
On the public site we count visits with PostHog. The count is anonymous: it records the pages viewed, sets no cookie, keeps nothing in your browser after you leave, and does not record your screen or what you type. Where you came from (the referring site or link) is kept in your browser tab until you close it, and sent with the form if you book a call. If your browser sends a “do not track” or Global Privacy Control signal, we do not count the visit at all.
The signed-in portals carry no analytics. Signing in uses cookies set by Clerk to keep you signed in.
Causeway Careers is for college students. Some start the program at 17. A parent or guardian enrolls the student, agrees to the program, and gives us the student’s date of birth. The program is not offered to children under 13.
California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to ask us to delete it, and to opt out of its sale. We do not sell personal information. To use these rights, write to help@causewaycareers.com.
